Dianne's Story
After graduating from Harding I got a job teaching in Lake Charles, LA for one year and then moved to Rapides Parish, where I taught for 32 more years and still live. I majored in vocational home economics and taught a total of 21 different courses at 5 different schools during my teaching career. I am not into writing and have written four books that are now published: "The Girl from Nip 'n' Tuck" (my autobiography), "Summerfield," "Return to Summerfield," and "The Billy Allgood Story" (a biography about Louisiana College's coach Billy Allgood). I am also the chairperson of a writers' group that meets at the Rapides Parish Library on Washington Street in Alexandria, La, and I give food demonstrations to a foods group that meets at that library.
I went on to earn two more advanced degrees, one from Northeast La University, now ULM, and one from Northwestern La University in Natchitoches, LA.
My husband and I married in 1975, and we have one son. We are still living in Pineville, LA in the house we bought in 1976.
We are both retired and are enjoying it very much. I have finished writing a book about my teaching experiences and am currently trying to get it published. In the meantime, I am working on additional books and stories which I also hope to publish.
My son got married in 2008 to Brittany Coker. They just had a baby girl, Anabelle Rose, born on May 20th. She is beautiful and I am told she looks just like I did when I was a baby. I am enjoying being a grandma who lives right across the street. I now have two more granddaughters, Audrie and Avery. They are all beautiful and very smart.

at idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. My husband does not like horses.
My hero was my mom, who was always there for me, no matter how tough the times were. She always believed in me and encouraged me to do my best.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is my mother, because she was the best..
Since retiring, I have become a big fan of LSU and Saints football. I never miss watching a game, no matter how badly the teams are playing.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the den and add on a wide screen TV. My dream home would be in another neighborhood.
It's better to make the kid think what he's doing is his idea rather than yours.
If I won $100 million, I'd give a lot of it to a no-kill animal shelter, then spend the rest on a new house, a new car and savings and investments.
My current age is ?. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead. I was so completely naive.
My biggest goal right now is to write more books. I now have four published books.
To my surprise, I was nominated five times to "Who's Who Among American Teachers."
In 10 years, I hope to be a published author. I'm going to get there by plugging away with my writing projects.
My two oldest friends are my best friends from high school. We can't remember how we got to be friends, but we think it was in our home economics classes. We never had a fight, but we had lots of fun. We still get together every now and then.
My first job was at Forrest K. White Jr. High, where I got paid $5600 to teach science. What I remember most about it is the students.
I guess my happiest childhood memory is when I got my dog. I was five years old and she became my constant companion through the 12th grade.
