Dianne's Story
After graduating from CHS in 1964, I attended Western Michigan University for a while and then moved to Detroit. I got married in 1967, had 3 beautiful children, but after 22 years of marriage, we were divorced. Meanwhile, I finished my bachelor's degree in my early 30's in Education and English, and then completed my master's degree in Management around age 45. I married John Chmidling in 1997, and became a step-mother to his lovely daughter. In 2008 I retired from Mutual Savings Association in Kansas after 11 years as their Director of Training and later a Vice President. We moved to Goshen, Indiana, where we now enjoy our horses and hobbies and new friends. we spent a lot of time at the beach! I now have 8 grandchildren with another one on the way. My kids all live in Michigan and are happily married, and my step-daughter lives near Memphis, TN. I'm taking piano lessons for the first time in my life, and am a collector of vintage aprons and stunningly beautiful vintage buttons, unlike what most people have ever seen before, such as hand painted ivory or hand engraved gilded scenes on mother-of-pearl. (It's all about art and history.) I've also enjoyed doing free lance photography, based mainly on talent, not training. I'm a Christian and am currently teaching a series of 13 classes called "The Truth Project" which is sponsored by Focus on the Family. I'm LOVING retirement and never seem to have enough time to do it all! Life is great when we're well and free!
