Dianne's Story

This is all Ralph Erickson's fault ya know. One little letter in the mail, two little letters in the mail, then your curiosity is piqued and next thing you know you're on some web site looking at a bunch of old people you haven't seen since some class reunion a hundred years ago. LOL I'm married to Tom, have two wonderful daughters who have done well in life, two beautiful grandaughters and three great- grandchildren. We're a close family who do a lot together and enjoy many facets of life. I worked for the gov at various activities around the country and retired early from Keyport as the senior woman executive at the activity. I moved on to spend three years involved in wildlife rehabilitation, which included building and maintaining our own satellite wildlife facility. During that same period, I was helping a couple of crazy psychologist friends start a new mental health agency in Bremerton for chronically mentally ill chemical abusers. That's your paranoid schizophrenic on crank or acid. After 50+ inches of rain and 3 feet of snow up on Green Mountain one year, we packed up and headed for Grants Pass in sunny southern Oregon. This is where my heart has been since age 9. I told my mother I was going to live here some day because "it made my insides smile". It still does. " It's the Weather" and there's a sign across main street that makes that same comment. We live half way between Grants...Expand for more
Pass and the city of Rogue River. I still didn't retire when we got to Oregon about 11 years ago.. I became involved with the buying and selling of antiques and collectibles for a few years. At the same time, I was also becoming involved in the arts in the Rogue Valley.and found another niche in life. At this time, my business partner and I own a mosaic and garden art business called the Garden Gypsies. There's a web site, but this site won't let me post it. You can search on Garden Gypsies Oregon if you wish to view it. We are also owners and managers of the Grants Pass Saturday Artisan & Crafters Market in downtown GP. We have about 75 artists who fill a street with fine art, clay, weaving, pottery, metal art, jewelry, wearables, glass art and more. Now add the musicians, artistic face painter, balloon man, belly dancers, jugglers and others who make this a real festival every Saturday. Too much fun. We also instruct workshops at the local college art department. Tom and I love spending time with the family and a ton of friends, traveling, riding Harleys, taking our old converted Greyhound bus to Arizona for a few months in winter, rafting, fishing, golfing, and partaking in all the local events and night life. Our best friends have one of the top booked bands in S. Oregon & N. CA which affords us a great opportunity to have play time. Life is good and we're enjoying every minute of it!
