Dianne's Story
After high school I went to the UMKC Conservatory of Music and graduated with a combined degree in Music Ed. & Music Therapy. I did my 6 month internship in Napa Valley at a state hospital then stayed there to work in a drug rehab program. I had a disastrous first marriage, moved back home and divorced in 1980. I worked as a counselor in a group home for emotionally disturbed teenage girls for 5 years. In 1985 I married Mike O'Neil a man with 3 kids who was the drummer in the KC Blues Band and we moved to Nashville. We both got jobs in treatment centers - me with adolescents and he with adults. oing anti-drug campaigns/shows in major venues in Nashville. During this time, 1987, I started working in a local school district implementing a program called STARS, a student assistance program for middle/high schools. I have continued in this job now for 23 years.
In December of 2004 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, Stage 2. My treatment lasted for almost a year and I am a grateful survivor today. As soon as I was strong enough to sing again I recorded/finished an album that was released in 2007. It's titled "Cry of a Lamb" and if anyone is interested in hearing it or getting it you can find it on CD Baby or My Space by googling Dianne O'Neil.
Thanks to all who visit me here or there! God bless you all,
Dianne
