Marty's Story
I would hope that people would remember me as happy go lucky, however I remember myself as someone who bounced off the walls. Having un-diagnosed A.D.D.; and a creative mind, I attended Ventura College a little early, and majored in Art and continued to work part time at various jobs. After graduation of high school I attended Barber College in Reseda at Rosston Barber School. After 9 months I attained my Barber License, and started working for my father at Larry's Hair Design. I then continued to go to JC part time, where I changed my major 2 more times from Art to Psychology and then finally to Philosophy.
I continued working as a barber and going to VC.I had been with my first girlfriend for awhile and when she moved to Colorado with her parents we were away from each other for a couple of months I thought I wanted a change of pace, I thought it would be a good idea to move to Colorado. It was, for about 9 months. Missing Ventura, I moved back and started working for The Daily Grind Coffeehouse.
In 2000 I decided (again) that I wanted a change (and benefits) and started working for (then) GTE now Verizon. I worked there for 2 years.Once more(and again having A.D.D)I decided I needed change, so I we...Expand for more
nt back to school .
I met someone on the internet, and moved to San Diego. I thought that she was the light at the end of the tunnel; little did I realize she was actually the train! Three years later I once more landed back in Ventura. I started working for Blue Cross insurance. I continued putting one foot in front of the other and making a living.
One day while I was surfing the net, I met someone. It was surprising we had so much in common, it was eerie. We started talking on the phone, and IM-ing, the only problem was that she lived in Sacramento. We thought it was a good idea to just date for awhile. For a year we continued dating. It was nice dating someone long distance (except for the phone bills). Then an opportunity came up, a job at the University of Sacramento. I couldn't resist it (and the benefits). I moved to Sacramento in October of 06.
Within time we were married and (with the help of her parents -my in-laws) we have a house. I continue to work at my job at Sac State in the Graduate Studies Department.
My wife is in the Counselor Education department (getting her Master's degree), and I will be starting Hypnotherapy school sometime next year. Our plan is to have a dual practice.
