Dick's Story

Currently retired in Loma Linda, California. Dick's formal education included Naches Valley High School, Yakima Valley College, El Camino College, Victor Valley College, Barstow College, Long Beach State, Pepperdine University, UCLA, UCLA Graduate School of Management. Retired in 1994 (at 50) after a series of serious health issues. Prior to retirement, Dick spent 37 years in Information Systems working for or consulting with many well known Fortune 500 national and international corporations that represent a cross section of business in the complicated world of today. Mattel Toys, Transamerica Corp, Piper Aircraft, Wickes Furniture, Frito Lay, Ralph's Markets, Transtechnology Corp, Thomas Ramo-Wooldridge, American Medical International, ITT Data Services, Blue Cross, Coca Cola, and Arrowhead Water, are but a few examples. the ability to share expensive peripheral devices between multiple mainframe computers in 1974. That achievement springboarded his career into technical and then executive management at a very young age. The capability was subsequently marketed and sold to most of large IBM mainframe Computer Centers worldwide and is still in use today. Also at Transamerica, provided technical and design support for the implementation of the first major mainframe online computer system on the west coast, California's Medicare Online System. Also in 1974. Areas of responsibility included IBM mainframe Technical Support Engineer, Data Center Technical Support Management, Data Center Director, Director of Systems and Programming Management, Chief Information Officer, Information Systems Executive Management Consultant focused on Strategic Planning of Information Systems support for major corporations worldwide.
