Davide's Story
After skedaddling to Texas after our graduation to join up with my family, I attended Texas A&M University (gig'em Ags!) and left with a science-heavy Bachelors degree and technical writing certification. I picked up some other useful skills like two-stepping, 'moes, cow tipping, and even a drawl I can turn on and off should it prove useful (speeding tickets, getting bartenders' attention, etc.).
I moved back to the East Coast after school and found a place on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and have put down roots. I've been using my combo degree ever since graduating working for academic publishers, pharmaceutical advertising companies, and currently I write nerdy yet compelling scripts as the associate medical director for a medical education firm.
A few years out of school and looking for a graduate-esque degree, I went back in 2001 and graduated with honors with a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. So I'm a pasty chef when I'm not helping your...Expand for more
doctors keep your medicine cabinet safe and secure. I create wedding cakes and other custom baked goods whenever the mood strikes (or an order comes in) and am looking to move this sideline gig into the forefront as my real job.
Moving to Texas before the advent of e-mail resulted in just about falling off the face of the earth after graduation, but I managed to keep in touch with Kathryn Fricks (MIT and A&M's computer labs had a very crude pre-internet hookup). It's been thrilling to watch my present and past circles of friends collide as Kathryn's joined us on travels to India and Croatia in recent years.
When I'm not traveling, baking, or remodeling my or my friends apartments, I can be found at the theaters, parks, dives, markets, hole-in-the-walls, and museums of my new "home town." And while I still haven't found him yet (close only counts in horseshoes), I hold out hope that somewhere in this city of countless millions is "Mr. Right for Me."
