Dina's Story

Life February 2009. I married in 1967 (Bill Kramer-class of 65) and divorced in 1984, I never remarried. I have 3 children, Shawn (class of 86) is 41, John (class of 89) is 38, & Jeff (Steilacoom-2004) is 23. The two oldest went to Mt. T and the youngest went to Lincoln and Steilacoom. Whereas we all went to Mt. T, all of the grandkids are Lincoln students. My daughter is married to Joe Monte,(class of 85),and works with him at L. C. Jergens Painting in Seattle. John works at his brother-in-laws' painting company, Monte Brothers Painting and is married to Eden Davidson-Kramer (class of 86), who is in medical records with Tacoma General. Jeff is working with his Dad doing residential remodeling. He was married Jan.19,2008 to Katie Ross. (Puyallup-2005) I still live in So. Tacoma not far from the home I grew up in. My Mom still lives there. I was very shy in high school but I have fond memories of the friends I had back then; Bonnie Wise, Sherry Branham, Cathy Moak, Edd Cox, Sherm and Clarence Card, and Gene Lawrence, to name a few. Some I still see, some are lost to the years. Remember saying that you would be friends forever? How about that trek from the 100 buildings all the way down to the gym. Remember trying to dry and curl your hair after swimming and still making it to the next class on time? Now our Mt.Tahoma is gone and rebuilt in a different location. We went to the Red Carpet every weekend ...Expand for more
to dance and meet friends. Sometimes it was so crowded you could barely move. The Tacoma Mall was new back then. The South Tacoma Way Dairy Queen,Bob's Burger Barn, the Starlite drive-in, and Lerner's downtown are gone, the B & I has totally changed and Ivan is gone. Remember going to the point and waxing your car in the parking lot? If you had access to a car, you could be found cruising Sixth Ave. and the goofy goose or frisko freeze. I have to laugh when I remember my Mom shaking her head over that 'gosh-awful' rock and roll! Especially 'Wake up little Susie'and Elvis! Life is different today, each generation has it's own problems, but they (whoever that is) say that the more things change, the more they stay the same.I work from my home and watch my grandchildren during the day. I have three girls and four boys from the ages of 7 years to 22 years. They compliment my life and make it very interesting. Someone once told me that if they had known that grandchildren were going to be so much fun, they would have had them first! How true that is. LOL! Life is good and I am very happy as I hope you all are too. On January 20, 2009, my second to the oldest grand-daughter, Jessica (18), made me a GREAT-Grandma! We have a beautiful baby boy, Michael. He was 9 lbs. 10 oz. and 20 1/2 in. It would be interesting to know how many of you are also great-grandparents. I'm the first of my family and friends.
