How about 25 years in 100 words or less? I did manage to graduate from West Point in 1983 with a degree in mechnical engineering, and was commissioned into the Army as an Infantry Lieutenant. I was going to get out after five years but the Army wanted to send me to Hawaii to command a rifle company, so I couldn't pass that up. After that I was going to get out again, but the Army wanted to send me to grad school so I could go back to West Point and teach, which sounded cool, so I got a masters in ME at the University of Michigan and taught thermo and heat transfer for three years. Then I was going to get out again (are we seeing a pattern here?) but the Army wanted to put me in charge of developing a new mortar fire control system, and that sounded interesting so I stayed, etc. etc. etc. So after 25 years, two masters degrees, and a whole lot of spending taxpayer dollars on cool, expensive toys, I'm still doing it.
