Well, here I am watching another year go into the dust bin of history. Even though I am not at all an old man yet, the dust of years gone by is getting thicker.
This year marks the 20th year since the class of '92 left BHS. It begins my 12th year of marriage. My son will turn 11. We just marked a decade since that awful September morning.
We have seen good friends and family leave us.....and new lives come into ours. The world has changed around us.......both for good and for bad, but that is part of our lot as we walk this walk called life.
I see a little more gray each morning, feel a new twinge most nights......40 is literally right around the corner for me......and it used to seem so old and far away. I know I am older, and I hope wiser, but deep down in my heart I don't feel much different than I did on new years eve long ago. A 17 year old who thought the whole world was ahead of him. It was ahead of me, as it was all of us at that age.....however I spent too much time fighting the waves that were all around me.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy new years eve, and puts their feet to the road of 2012 in the way best for them. For me.....I hope I can start the 2nd half of my life doing less fighting with the waves and more putting the wind to my back and making my own waves as I move forward.
