Dodie's Story
Things have turned out a lot differently than I would have planned or expected. I could not have imagined or planned such an incredible journey.
My friends live all over the United States. I would love to have them all in one room just once. They are all unique, strong, independant, smart, capable women that span 50 years of my life. We keep in touch, not often enough. We can go years without seeing or even talking to each other but when we do get together it picks right up like it was yesterday. These friends are true blessings in my life. Some know each other, most don't. They are the one constant I can count on.
Spent 5 years in Sitka Alaska. What a beautiful place. Got to participate in a few Halibut and Black Cod derby's. Got to explore all over SE while commercial fishing for anything we could sell. Worked in a hardware store and managed apartments in between fishing ventures. Lived through some of those adventures you read about in fishing magazines.

and have been doing Property Management. Now I have 315 college students to keep me smiling. A great bunch of young people to be around.
Both my kids moved here and it has been a pleasure to watch my granddaughter grow into an incredible young woman with drive, focus, determination, a wonderful sense of self and natural beauty. I am so proud of her. As a family we are all very close and really enjoy each other's company.
I've learned that "Stuff" will not bring you happiness or contentment. That age is only a number. That wisdom comes with trials and loss. That forgiveness is the greatest gift you can give yourself.
I love to laugh and any time spent with friends and family is an occasion to indulge until our faces and stomachs hurt.
Life has been good and bad. Up and down. Happy and sad. Blessed and cruel. Everything is better when you let go and let the Lord guide you. Learning that he is the only one that knows what's best for you is the hardest lesson but surely one worth learning.
