Dollie's Story
I attended Northeast Jr. Hi , Summer HS and Ottawa University all in Kansas. I graduated from OU in 74 with a BA degree in English and Sociology. I worked for the KCMO Police Dept after graduation. I married Jerry Rogers, my college sweetheart in May 75. We lived in Morristown NJ for 18 years. There I worked for the Town of Morristown, in neighborhood revitalization programs for nine years. After that I worked for the electric co, JCP&L for nine years. Jerry and I divorced seven year after we married in 1983, but in the meantime we had a beautiful daughter whom we named Cecely Carroll Rogers.
In 1992 I married Gramling Spivey and moved to southern CA. A beautiful place called Alta Loma where we presently reside. I worked for nine years for the PIVCC, a nonprofit that runs programs for the homeless and provides food for the hungry. ograms, overseeing a walk in center with several other agencies. I left there to pursue a better career opportunity in 2000, where I presently work. I am the Administrator at Emerson and Access Village. We provide affordable housing for seniors and disabled adults at two locations.
My husband and I are relocating to GA this August. He is from GA and wanted to retire in his home state. I am looking forward to living in this part of the US.
I always wanted to be a writer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right. I produce a newsletter each month or quarter at work and the residents say that they enjoy reading my articles.
Gram and I have three children between us, none together however. One daughter, Rochelle is married with no children. Our other children Gram II and Cecely are not married and they have no children. So we are still awaiting the joy of grand parenting.
