Dolly's Story
Life
Its been quite a life since SJA. After High School I attended 2 years at Los Angeles Harbor College majoring in Theatre. Since then I've been a professional freelance photographer for some 35+ years now, which comes in quite handy, since my two gorgeous and very talented daughters are entertainers and it saves me a bundle on their headshots. My husband, Guy (yes, we're often referred to as 'Guys & Dolls'), is a songwriter/ producer and owns a recording studio where he and I produce CD projects (before we had kids, he and I had a few Top-40 bands; I sang leads and played keyboards & percussion). We also own a small promotion/marketing company. My time is pretty much split between my girls' and husband's careers now. Up until a few years ago, I was also the Director of an award winning troupe of some 60+ kid performers, ranging in ages from 3 to 22. It's called Kids On Stage for a Better World, and we performed all over the Los Angeles area bringing positive messages to the community and to kids in foster care, schools, etc. Two of 'my KIDS' went on to fairly big professional careers - Erika Christensen of "Parenthood", "Traffic" and "Swim Fan" fame, and Lynsey Bartilson from TV's "Grounded For Life". I also homeschooled both my girls (now ages 18 & 24).
My eldest, Shelby, is working on her career. She has quite a resume (check her out on IMDb.com) and if you have any little ones (children or grandkids) I suggest going on-line and ordering a film she did when she was younger called "Magic Power Scouts" (target audience is about 7 or 8) - Live action and puppets and magic! She also does voice over work for Japanese Anime ("K-On" Voice of Tsumugi) and can be heard as one of the girls in the "Lalaloopsie" movie just released on Nickelodeon, as well as for the Liv Dolls website the voice of Sophie...Expand for more
. It's at livworld(.)com) Shelby is an amazing singer and is always in the studio recording. She performs at local clubs and showcases as a solo act and with a couple of her bands, "DELCO" and "Ladies & Gentlemen", both of which can be found on MySpace. But her latest project is a duo vocal folk group called "Shelby & Tieg", on Facebook and on line at "shelbytiegandtara(.)com" When she was 16 she was awarded a summer scholarship in the south of France with a theatre project where she performed at a local theatre festival near Cannes.
My younger one, Rachel, is also quite a singer and songwriter as well, and she, too, is in the studio recording and has songs on her MySpace page. If you check her out though, search for RachelALindley (she had to use her middle initial). Currently she has a duo called "Color Me Home" and released her first EP and performs all over LA. She also made a solo singing appearance on a float in the Hollywood Christmas Parade (made me homesick for Mardi Gras). She is also an official spokesperson for the Drug Free Marshals and is a Drug Free Mentor, and makes appearances all over LA where she swears kids and adults in as volunteer Marshals who promise to not take drugs and spread the Truth About Drugs booklets and media. She recently was awarded Congressional Recognition for her volunteer work.
My husband & I have been together for 29 years and we live in Granada Hills, California (near the foothills of the Angeles Crest Forrest) where we are surrounded by squirrels, birds, rabbits, and lizards, with the occasional coyote. But we have a wonderful Siberian Huskie named Xander who does a great job of keeping them all at bay. I would love to hear from any of our "Daisies" class.
