Dominick's Story

Hey everyone! I'm living in Palm Bay with my family. I'm now working as a Public Insurance Adjuster for Public Adjuster Hotline, Inc.. If you're unhappy with your insurance claim, we can help you get a fair settlement (like an attorney, we fight against insurance companies). Feel free to get in touch with me on Face book... (I was told that I can't type out my e-mail address, but you can hopefully figure it out) dombelinchak (at) yahoo (dot) com :) I went to USF (Tampa), Catawba College (North Carolina), University of Glasgow (Scotland -- exchange student), and returned to USF & graduated with a degree in Business Administration. First job was at Overoaks Golf Couse in Kissimmee, FL. I was their marketing manager and Assistant Golf Pro. I visited hotels promoting the golf course & loved my job. The golf course was sold when I went away on vacation & I lost my job when I came back. Nice, huh?!? I then started up my own marketing business that visited the same hotels. That went very well, however less than 5-6 months after starting it, my father & grandmother's health were going downhill fast (cancer) & my mother asked me to move back to Palm Bay to help. My father passed away a few months after moving back & my grandmother passed away about a year after moving back. I wouldn't have traded those special times for anything, but it was a very tough time for me. I think I was in a funk of some sorts for a year or two afterwards. I started playing golf again at Port Malabar Country Club and eventually landed a golf teaching job until the academy closed down 2-3 years later. Now the golf course isn't even there, which is really a shocker! :( My father was a local builder and I was able to buy some "handyman specials" with my mom's help. It was a great learning experience and I still enjoy fixing up properties to this day. I stayed with real estate by being a mortgage broker for 3 years -- commission only job, which made it very stressful for me & my family. I don't recommend a commission only job for anyone! I was sitting behind a desk, on the phone all the time, running up my cell phone bill, gaining 40-60 pounds, e...Expand for more
tc... Not good! It has been very tough to lose that weight, but I'm half way there! I got back into real estate by starting my own handyman business (fixing up homes for clients). I especially enjoyed pressure washing & painting, but I also do plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.. During the 2004 hurricanes, an insurance adjuster visited my mom's house. I went up on the roof with him and we talked for 40 minutes about the storm damage and he said that I would be a good insurance adjuster and that the pay was really good. My mother and I flew out to Dallas, Texas and got our insurance adjuster licenses. The Texas license works for more states than the Florida license would have. In 2005, we drove to Lousiana to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. The damage was unbelievable folks! Much worse than the photos show. I loved the fact that I was there to help them out by literally writing the checks to have them rebuild their homes. When hurricane Wilma hit South Florida, I went there with my mom and we formed a great team. I used the $$ earned from the adjusting & purchased a few investment properties in Virginia. My mother and I tried for over a year to convert two of the homes into group homes for people with handicaps. This was going to be our way of giving back. Unfortunately, the red tape to go through the process has been unbelievable and the money evaporated by the properties staying vacant. I had to rent out the homes. I worked part time at The Majors as their marketing manager, however I was let go when the golf course sold in June 2008. During the Summer 2008, we went to Louisiana, Texas and Kentucky because of the hurricanes. Now, I'm back in Palm Bay working as a Public Insurance Adjuster for Public Adjuster Hotline. I'm not married, I'm in a relationship with my longtime girlfriend since 1995, I've got 2 wonderful children (a daughter born in Dec '96 and a son that was born Dec '07). God has blessed us with children even though the doctors told her that she would never be able to have kids. Guess doctors can be wrong!?! Well, that's my quick update! Stay in touch everyone! Best Wishes, Dom :)
