Don's Story

Life My Job: Retired Logistics Analyst / Computer Wienie. Finally moved back to Texas in the Hill Country SW of Austin. Working on Genealogy and maintaining several websites. Other: I missed the 60's reunion last year but I look forward to attending the next one School I guess my biggest crush was Barbara Hardwick, one of the beautiful cheerleaders. When I was a senior I was lettered for ROTC Drill Team. The letters were presented by Cheer Leaders and Pep Squad members at a football half-time show and Barbara presented mine. Then she kissed me on the cheek. Thought I'd pass out on the spot :o) My favorite teacher was Louis Holst (mad Louie). I'll never forget the (small) explosion when he held a piece of sodium under the water faucet. Yeah, I'd do it all over again, but different. Memories My funniest and craziest memory is when we got about 25 people on a moving jeep. Happiest was when I received the Academic Achievement Medal in ROTC. A complete surprise as I was not noted for being a straight A student in other subjects. College My Alma Mater is New Mexico State. I attended classes while serving in the Army at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Workplace After Army retirement I worked for Electronic Warfare Associates as a Logistics Manager, VAX System Manager / Drafting Department Manager and Test Engineer. I could tell you more about that job but then I'd ...Expand for more
have to kill you :o) After 9 years at EWA they lost their government contract and I went to work in Saudi Arabia as a Logistics Engineer with COLSA Corporation, a Huntsville, AL-based government contractor. I lived there 9 years and, for the most part, enjoyed it and the amenities it brought to us. Then, in '98 my wife Ellen was blinded in the terrorist attack on the Nairobi, Kenya US Embassy where she was working on temporary duty from the US Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. So, back to the states for us and another job with COLSA as Logistics Manager supporting another contract in Saudi Arabia. Finally, I retired at 61 to our little ranchette in God's Country (Texas Hill Country). Military After high school I joined the Army and spent 21 years soldering. My job was electronic maintenance on missile Command, Control and Communications (C3) systems for the first 13 years, then computer maintenance in the now-defunct Safeguard anti-missile missile system and finally, several years in Logistics. I was stationed in Germany twice, Korea once and other than my boot camp at Ft Hood and early training at Ft Monmouth, NJ I spent the remainder of my career at Ft Bliss, Texas and Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Currently I am now living in San Antonio again. Foar a while, at least until my divorce is finalized. Then I plan to move back to my little ranch near Wimberley.
