Don's Story
Just a little update - July of 2009 I had a pretty narly get-off on my mountain bike, thought I'd jsut bruised my left leg badly...being the stubborn cuss that I am I never went to the Dr. or E.R. - I just went with it...so long story longer, I had to fly to D.C. for a work related conference, on the way out there my leg started REALLY hurting...after a couple days in D.C. I couldn't walk without becoming completely out of breath...on the advice from one of the Physicians where I work, I went to the E.R. - good thing I did...I had massive clotting in my leg, some of those clots had gone to my lungs. I had(have)multiple pulmonary emoblism's including, lucky me, a "saddle emboli"
This has great curtailed my formerly pretty active lifestyle...once it warms up and Kat and I can get outside and hike and camp I think I'll really start to heal...so there's my update...back to the rest of the story.....................
After I realized that school and "normalcy" wasn't for me I joined the Marine Corps and left KC in 1979. Have only been back a smattering of times. During those years I've lived/worked in 7 States and 5 countries, both in and out of the service.
I settled down in Texas for 10 years, there I met and married my first wife, together we had a wonderful Daught...Expand for more
er who is now 24 and a Mother also - I have a nearly 7 year old Grand Daughter.
I left Texas in 1994 for Wichita, Kansas where I currently live.
Through various adventures I met my second wife - we had a tumultuous relationship but also had a wonderful Daughter, she is now 6 and, like her half sis, the absolute Love of my life. I am much closer to her than my oldest...we are best friends, confidants, she has my heart and don't think she doesn't know it.
Somehow I ended up in the IT world. I am currently the Network Engineer for a large OB/Gyn/Oncology Clinic. I enjoy it, even though it may well be the end of me!
In my off times I enjoy reading- suspense - thrillers - who-done-it's - historical novels, pretty much anything really. I Love classic films(thank you BEC!)I like to camp, hike, geocache, take road trips, hang out with friends and BBQ, I ride my mountain bike for solace and exercise. A devoted animal Lover and as environmentally friendly as I can be.
Lately I have come to miss some of my friends(party buddies??)from high school days. They were certainly not MY best years, but I know for some of you they were. Hopefully, maybe, I can reconnect with a few of you.
I hope life has been as much of an adventure for all of you as it has been for me!
Peace!
