Don's Story

Retired from Economic Development Career in January, 2009. Throughout life never grew out of the 50's & 60's. Still like old cars, Cushman scooters and old time rock and roll music. Currently restoring a 1949 Cushman Scooter and working on a 1955 Cameo Carrier pick-up for my driver. Have spaces at the Decatur and Pate Swap meets that I go every year to buy and sell and look at old stuff. Currently President of the Cushman Club of America, a 5,000 member national organization dedicated to the restoration of Cushman Scooters. This years national meet is June 15-18 at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, NC and next yea...Expand for more
rs national meet is in Sturgis SD June 14-17, 2010. Judy and I have 6 children between us and 10 grandchildren. Judy is an RN and has about 5 years left before she can retire. About 3 years ago, after one of our school reunions, Eddie Stoddard, Sam Brown, Edmound Walker and I along with our wives, started getting together every 3-4 months to visit and share old times. Our last meeting was in Graham in May at Carolyn's house and we had about 20 other friends and classmates show up for a great time. If you are ever in Abilene, give me a call as I always like to see old friends and know whats going on in your life.
