02/22/10 Made it through the Dallas White Rock Marathon and bettered my time to 4:52. It was not that much easier than the first one, but I made it. Had a great time. For the past few years I have become more interested in running. I started out doing it to stay in shape plus the fact that I kept getting hurt all the time when I played basketball or baseball. About a year ago I joined a group for runners called the Waco Striders. Their membership has a wide range of age and skill level. Before joining the group I had never run more than a 5k distance race. Now I have run two half marathons and in April 2009 I ran and finished at the Oklahoma City Marathon. It's a very inspirational race. The proceeds from the race help fund the memorial for the bombing victims. When you start the race, the relatives of those who passed away are there to thank and encourage you. There are folks cheering you along for all the 26.2 miles. By the time I got near the end I needed all the encouragement I could get. My feet and ankles were asking me why I thought this was a good idea. I hoped to finish under 5 hours.
