Most of my old friends at East may remember me as an electronics geek and an avid musician. Band, orchestra, brass choir, jazz ensemble. Plus messing around with ham radio. That's pretty much how I still am, but the details have changed, of course. After graduating from East, I went down to Purdue to study engineering, and to be in their band and orchestra programs. Went back to U.W. Madison for grad school. Didn't get my Master's degree until a year after leaving campus, because I had spent too many weekends having fun caoneing, skiing, bicycling, building ham radio projects, etc. (Somehow talking to people on the radio was never as interesting as building the equipment.) My first wife died in 1989, and two years later I married a woman who likes messing around with music as much as I do. She's the person who introduced me to Celtic music. We got involved in a casual string "pick-up band," but it was so laid-back that we decided it would be fun to have a serious band.
