Life I attended Clarkstown Jr/Sr High School in New City, New York during 1958 thru 1960 before moving to Granada Hills California. I attended Granada Hills High School graduating in 1964. After graduating Granada Hills High School I attended L.A. Pierce College for two years. I then attended California State University-Northridge (then San Fernando Valley State College). I graduated in August of 1969 with a BA degree in History. Following graduation, I joined the US Air Force and flew as an F-4E Weapon Systems Officer (WSO). While stationed at Korat RTAFB in Thailand, I flew 133 combat missions over North and South Vietnam, and Laos. I was shot down over North Vietnam on July 5 1972, and spent nine months as a POW in Hanoi North Vietnam. As a result of missions flown in Southeast Asia, I received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with twelve oak leaf clusters, The POW Medal, and the Purple Heart. After my return to the U.S., I was assigned to Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nevada, flying as a rightseater in the F-111A with the 429th Tactical Fighter Squadron. I left the Air Force at the end of February 1977 and moved to Simi Valley. During 1977 I went to work for North American Aircraft Division of Rockwell International, in Los Angeles, as the Editor of the Flight Manuals for B-1A #3 and B-1A #4.
