Don's Story

So I am now "officially" a retired senior citizen. Although I haven't quite figured out what retired actually means. I left my teaching gig at Fresno State last December after 25 years. But then immediately went to work for the new Public Access TV studio here in town as a training consultant. I also stayed on as General Manager of our community-supported radio station and I'm still doing my two weekly shows. All of which means I don't keep much of a regular schedule, but I still have work everyday. I guess that's a form of retirement. It works for me, anyway. R...Expand for more
etiring from teaching video was easy - but I could never retire from radio because it keeps me involved in music. I get to listen to a lot of it and play it on the air. I meet a lot of artists, go to a lot of shows and festivals, travel around the country to check out different music scenes (Chicago, Memphis, Austin, Portland, New Orleans, St. Louis). And I get to take a lot of photos for my website. So even though I don't play much anymore, I'm still doing the thing I love most. Be nice if I could make a little more money at it, but hey, can't have everything!
