Don's Story

Life Short version From High School to Brooklyn Gear to the USN. After I got out of the navy I moved back to Detroit and got more involved in the drug life. Almost died a couple of times, but a good sister and praying parents, brought me through. Moved to St Augustine FL, where I turned my life over to the Lord Jesus Christ. Then I went to Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. My wife Carla and I met in Bro Cyril McLellans music class; we also attended the same church, Eagle Heights A/G, where Bro Lewis was the Pastor. That was 33 wonderful years ago on July 22nd. My Pets My daughter took the cat with her, she now has pit bulls My Kids Our son, James, was born 10yrs after we were married. He is now working full time for Rays Body and Fender. He has done his freshman year at Flagler College and is raising money to finish his graphic arts degree. He is 22. Our daughter, Kayla, came a year later. She just got married to Greg this past November, my wife said that I would cry when I gave her away, but I didn't, then I performed the wedding, it was a great day. She is my secretary at the church. She has a great challenge in keeping her ADD dad organized, but she does a great job at it. And since I was a yeoman in the Navy, I am trying to help her out. She is 21. I love being a dad. My Job My 1st job was at Mystery Hill/Prehistoric Forest. I started o...Expand for more
ut making .75 cents an hour, I remember getting the raise to $1.00. Gas was cheep and the 66 Chevy II didn't need much. The 1970 Rally 350 Cutlass SS was another story. My latest job was for the Association for Retarded Citizens. I loved the work and the clients. I taught the staff in aggression control techniques, so my wrestling past helped. I stopped working at the ARC in Dec of 2007, (23 years), and I am now pastoring full time at Good Shepherd Ministries. We have a lot of fun, and we are helping some people along the way. Isn't God wonderful, He gives us many chances in life. I am such a blessed man. FOOD If you ever pass through St Augustine, you need to eat at Salt Water Cowboys, seafood at it best. My family first ate here in 1970 and it is a piece of old Florida. And of course, Pizza Hut is still my favorite. But nothing beats Mom spaghetti. At 84, she still cooks great. Of course theirs Dad's Hungarian Goulash. Fireworks were great at the Fort. I remember the fireworks at the High School and at some place in Jackson where there was at small waterfall with colored lights. Praying for you all. (Pastor) Don Rimer P.S. None of my family or friends ever thought that I would ever be a pastor, my 2nd grade teacher told mom that I would be a juvenile delinquent and be in jail by the time I was 16. (Nobody understood ADHD back in those days)
