Don's Story
Hi,
You may know me from Caddo Heights Elementary, Linwood Jr. High School, Fair Park High School, the Shreveport Trade School or from Western Electric, here in Shreveport. I'm still married to the same, lovely, Gail Reid Saunders,
the FIRST and LAST wife (Class of '69). We have an adult daughter, now, Lorrie Christine Fortson (divorced) who
is an LPN with the Willis-Knighton Health System and a nearly 18 year old grandson, William Henry.
Not being 'lazy', I worked two, full-time jobs. One at the Western Electric Telephone Manufacturing plant, the other
for Time-Warner Cable. I was forced to retire in 1993 due to my health. I spend a LOT of time on the road, going to
different doctor's offices and over to Baylor Medical University in Dallas.
At Linwood Jr. High, I got into 'radio/electronics. I spent my time at Linwood and Fair Park studying it, instead of
studying what I was SUPPOSED too. I've had lots of jobs in the electronics field and worked at Western Electric the
longest, 17 years. I was laid off from there in 1990 and went back to "Trade School' and took Computer Repair and
programming. In addition to working ...Expand for more
at Western, I also worked full time for Time-Warner Cable as their 'Collections
Agent" and "Equipment Recovery Tech"...."Bounty Hunter", LOL! I enjoyed going out, meeting folks and trying to help them get their cable re-installed, AFTER they paid the bill. This type of kindness made me lots of friends, some I still see today. Isn't GOD wonderful?
In 1981, the Amateur Radio "bug" (Morse code) bit me and I got my license. I've been with the local 'SKYWARN' 2 meter radio group for nearly 30 years and I enjoy talking to others all over the World on my radio. In my spare time,
I repair old, tube-type transmitters and recievers.
GOD BLESS,
Warmest Regard,
Don S.
I always wanted to be a alive when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were WRONG! LOL!.
Well, if you have GOD, there is no reason to 'blow off steam' because you know HE has everything under HIS control. Besides, if you get 'mad', you just have to get 'glad' again and sometimes that's a lot of work, he,he,he.
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have GOD, knowledge, and tools to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
