Don's Story
Life
I guess you could say life has been good to me, at least I am still vertical and breathing at almost 73. A carcinoid tumor was discovered in my abdomen in August of 2008 and removed in September along with 16 inches of small intestine. Rough way to lose weight but it continues to melt away. I have not been back to Neodesha very often, each time I see fewer and fewer familiar faces.
In August of 2004 I received notice that I am now on the retired rolls of the military with 36 years, 8 months and 17 days service to my credit. I guess that means no more trips to the big sandbox.
Career wise I have have been involved in photography since leaving active service in 1973. I have worked in the petroleum industry, in mining and in the defense industry. ...Expand for more
I was able to travel a great deal even though it meant long separations from my family. I got to see a lot of the world, good and bad places, and I would not trade being in America for any of them except possibly Switzerland or Denmark.
I was married in 1967 to the former Martha Waite of Garnett, Kansas and have two children. Warren (1975) and Meagan (1978). Sadly Martha passed away in January 2017 from cancer. I guess you could say I'm a bachelor again.
I started my own business several years back, Aerial Photo Services. I finally retired in January of 2016. Now the only thing I fly is my drone. We have lived in Littleton, Colorado since 1980. I became a grandfather in 2005,a grandson and in August of 2014 my daughter gave me twin grand-daughters.
