Life
Aft. Valley did a year and a half at SAC, Did the full tilt Athlete bit. Football Wrestilling, Track got the letters, Got the Team captain thing in FB and Wrestling. Got some all Conference and American recog. won the southern cal JC heveyweight wrestiling crown. Managed to get to class enough to score some transferable uints. Accepted a full ride FB scholorship to UC Berkeley almost flunked out. Discovered I was in way over my head academically. It took me a year to get up to speed with UC and pulled a social science BA degree in 1979. Hell of a transition from OC to UC Berk. a real eye opener. Aft graduating UC stayed on as the Strength and Conditioning coach for the Athletics dept.Got payed to play for 4 years. Married a Berkeley gal knocked out a couple of daughters. Popped a gasket in my back, herniated disk, and had to give coaching up. Did a couple of years of hard labor in the insurance industy , never worked so hard and got so little. Looking for a way to get paid to play again, I took a year of pilot training in 85 completing a Commercial pilot course in march of 86. Worked as a Flight Instructor for a couple years they made me an Asistant Chief Instructor and let me start flying Charter Flights in 87. f 90. 6 months later Sadam invaded Kuwait and the desert storm was on, which screwed up the regional airline industry. I stuck it out but got AIDS, Aviation Induced Devorce Syndrom, I got fired from my husban job in 93 aft. My then wife got a degree in marriage and familiy counseling. I think my devorce was a class progect.Did the uncle dad thing,ie Dad living in another city and visiting on his off days like an uncle. I was base in LAX, SFO, Reno, Monterey,Arcata, Fresno, Ventura ,and finally Santa Ana flying out of John Wayne in 89. WestAir lost the United contract and clossed. I ended up back in No cal. Flying on demad Charter at Areosmith aviation. That was a very cool gig and I was back in the area my kids live in. 2 years later crashed my airplane aborting a take off and ended up Flight Instructing until Feb 2002 landed my currant position flying a croperate type jet for Netjets, its kind of a timeshare with airplanes, 400 jets 1900 pilots owned by 2100 people and corperations. I fly all over the States alittle Mexico and Canada action. I work 17 days a mont and log about 14 night in hotels a month. The flyings a blast but its a stresser on relationships. The kids are 22 and 19, makein me crazy but thats what they'er for right? anyway that should bring anyone who's intrested up to date on Don!
