More about Donald:"I was born in LaGrange, IL hand first, waving to the world. We lived in Downer's Grove, IL in a house with a back yard with large trees. I was baptized in a Presbyterian church in a nearby town where I also eventually attended Sunday School. We moved to Lisle into a "dream home." and started Kindergarten at Tate Woods Elementary. Six months after moving in, my Dad's employer, General Foods, caused us to moved to Wakefield, MA. My dad said that was our last "dream home." In Wakefield, I attended Kindergarten and then Montrose Elementary. I went to Sunday School at Wakefield-Lynnfield Methodist Church. When I was in third grade, General Foods transferred my dad again and we moved to Dover, DL where I attended Fairview Elementary, Dover Central Middle School and Dover High School. ...Expand for more
While I was in ninth grade, General Foods wanted to transfer my dad to White Plains, NY. He decided to take a job with Tropicana in Bradenton, FL. I then attended Manatee High School. My dad's job with Tropicana didn't work out, but he got hired at Tri-County Engineering in Sarasota, FL. That still didn't work out, but he was hired to construct a headquarters office building for Harris Semiconductor in Melbourne, FL. That was when I was in ninth grade. We moved to Satellite Beach, FL and graduated from Satellite High School. Harris kept my dad on to act as general facilities engineer and he ended up retiring from that company. I chose Civil Engineering because I loved watching water flow - the tides on Chesapeake Bay tributaries and the ocean waves. While searching for colleges, I looked at places which had not just Bachelor of Science degrees, but especially Bachelor of Civil Engineering degrees. I wanted to get away from my parents because they fought almost every night. I was accepted at Ga. Tech and Stetson and chose Ga. Tech. Notably, I was rejected by the Coast Guard Academy. During my third quarter at Tech, I decided to enroll in the co-operative education program. The only opening the school in hydraulics / hydrology was at the U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station in Vicksburg, MS. I spend every other quarter traveling with all my worldly possessions in my Galaxie 500 between Atlanta, Vicksburg and Satellite Beach. More to come.....".
