Donald's Story

Donald Biggers of Fresno High School (1973-1975) and Hoover High School (1975-1976) legally changed his name to Ian Ayres in 1978 and has lived in Paris, France since 1989 as a poet, writer, singer and filmmaker for French Connection Films. His earliest film is an award-winning feature documentary called "The Jill & Tony Curtis Story" about the legendary actor and his wife. "The Jill & Tony Curtis Song", the film's theme song, can be found on YouTube along with a song by Ian Ayres called "The Strangest Treasure" that shows home movies of Ian as Don Biggers during his Junior Pimp days as a student at Hoover High School. Because the first edition of his memoir "Private Parts" sold so well, Ian Ayres has revised and expanded an even more revealing second edition that includes how he inspired the movie "Risky Business". See Donald Biggers during his days as a Hoover student while also known as Junior Pimp for helping his mom, Fresno's most notorious madam, Marilyn Laird (check 1970s archives of The Fresno Bee), run her chain of brothels called massage parlors. Home movies of Madam Laird and her son Don during 1974-1976 can be seen on YouTube as the music video for "The Strangest Treasure". Also on YouTube is his first music video, made in 1983, called "Breathing Between Us". All is brought to life in his book. Book details: Private Parts: The Early Works of Ian Ayres Second Edition, Revised and Expanded Ayres, Ian. This stunning collection brings together the best poems from Ayres' erotic early verse (much of it written in houses of ill fame) to his darkly imaginative later pieces. Also featuring Ayres' previously unpublished experiences with Allen Ginsberg, Yoko Ono, Edmund White and Quentin Crisp. Ayres began writing poetry at puberty in hous...Expand for more
es of ill fame for his prostitute mother, who soon opened her own chain of brothels. For his 18th birthday Ayres was given a whorehouse in Florida, which he set out to run as successfully as he could to make his mother proud. While in these houses of ill fame prostitutes encouraged the dark and often tortured verse of the author as a teen struggling with his sexuality in an underworld where love was an act and sex, a function. From such turmoil emerged a powerful literary voice that Ayres, in his new introduction, claims metamorphosed the lost boy he was "from pimp to poet". Product Info: Poetry, Literary Non-Fiction Paperback, 0.14 x 5.5 x 8.2 inches, 200 pages, illustrated Publisher: French Connection Press ISBN: 978-2-914853-101 Private Parts: The Early Works of Ian Ayres (Second Edition, Revised and Expanded) explores the extreme boundaries of human behavior and amorality, offering a journey through his life from his early years in houses of ill repute (as son of 1970s Fresno Madam Marilyn Laird) to his life in Paris today. Fascinating essays on Allen Ginsberg, Yoko Ono, Edmund White and Quentin Crisp's last interview are featured. Ayres' crusty accounts of a boy's life on the wild side help us understand his intimate poetry and erotic verse which gives voice to an emptiness we can barely stand to think about. Without a doubt, in another era, Ayres' PRIVATE PARTS would be circulated in secret, explosive editions that friends and fans would pass around and savor like forbidden absinthe. Don't wait any longer, delve into the high-risk journey of a free-spirited writer who dares to reveal all of his private parts. Currently filming the upcoming movie theater release about Marilyn Monroe entitled: "What Ever Happened to Norma Jeane?" (IMDB)
