Donald's Story

After Graduation in 1969 I tended to drift in a non-productive haze until late 1972. The most productive thing I accomplished was to learn to play a serious game of volleyball. In November of 1972 I enlisted in the navy. Figured I needed to establish a reasonable work history if I wanted to live indoors in the future. After Bootcamp and "A" school I shipped off to my home port in Athens, Greece. Getting married (enroute) to Martha (Bonnie). Loved living in Greece and was a bit disappointed when the ship returned to the US in late 1975. Got out of the navy in late 1976, Divorced in 1977. Hired by the Aurora, CO Police in 1977 and stayed there until 1982. While there, I met my current wife, Donette and we married in 1980. In 1982 I turned to the dark side and went into federal law enforcement, moving to the Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. Donette and I both enrolled in the Law Enforcement program at Weber State University, graduating with our AS's and BS's in 1986. I had risen to the position of "Chief" of Provost Marshal Investigations (way more impressive sounding that it really was). Donette was an investigator in the same office. We both started our Masters work at Utah State University and stayed with that until we tranfered to the Department of the Interior/Bureau of Land Management Law Enforcement Office in Portland, OR. We were hired to augment the counter drug program targeting marijauna and methamphetamine production on public lands. In 1995 Donette was promoted ...Expand for more
to the position of Special Agent-in-Charge of the Nevada LE Program for the BLM. I was eventually allowed to move with her and was attached to the National Law Enforcement Office In Boise, ID. (They did let me live in Reno with Donette) While there I developed the Technical Investigative Equipment Program for the agency and formalized the Defensive Tactics Training Program, becoming the Lead DT training Officer for the agency(more fun than you could know). In January 2005 I retired. Donette was Promoted to Chief of Security and Intelligence and transfered to Washington D.C. Donette had completed her MS and PhD work at the University of Nevada Reno. I on the other hand continued, but did not complete my masters work. Donette retired in 2007 and now teaches and is program lead for the Law Enforcement School at Westwood College. I am a contented house husband that keeps busy in the gym and my big garage (2- AMC Javelins , 1969 and a 1970) Re-joining the page in 2014. Lived in VA performing the duties of house husband and gym rat as Donette's second career saw her rise to Dean of Education for Westwood College. I, on the other hand, became very proficient at dog walking and lawn (2 acres) mowing. In late 2012 Donette was offered a position (Academic Dean) for Everglades University in Sarasota FL. She very graciously let me move with her and continue my career as house husband and boy toy. Donette retired this January (2014) and we plan on lots of travel and enjoying the gulf coast.
