Donald's Story

After graduation I went to the University of Wisconsin for undergraduate and then got my JD from Northwestern University School of Law. I practiced law to the tune of "This Land is Your land" (literally from California to the New York Island), but no matter how long I practiced (18 years) I never got very good at it. So, I went back to school and got my PhD from the U of Illinois. I then taught constitutional law, civil rights, etc. at Baylor University and then back at the U. of Illinois. I am proudest of having served as the Director of the Civic Leadership Program while at the U of I. Now I am retired with my wife Debbie in Palmyra, NY (just outside of Rochester, NY ... long story). ...Expand for more
UPDATE: we have re-retired to Las Cruces, NM as of 01/2020. We spend most of our time visiting the kids and their kids; Justin, a vet in SoCal, Aaron, CEO of a tech. company in San Francisco, Luke, an architect in Austin, TX, and Amanda, a project manager for a tech. company in Carlsbad, CA. Would I change anything if I could, sure (like the campaign stunt of having Jim LaRocco arrive at PHS in a helicopter dressed in a suit of knight's armor, yikes!), but everything considered I am a very fortunate person for which I am very grateful. I hope everyone in the Class of 65 that is still with us is living a happy and rewarding life. For our classmates that have passed, may you rest in peace.
