Donald's Story
After La Sierra I went to ARJC where I met my future wife, Sharon Ditler. We went on to SF State and after graduation I took the entrance exam for the US Air Force and was sent to Texas for Officer Training and then to Oklahoma for pilot training. My first assignment was as an Instructor Pilot in San Antonio and after three years I was assigned to a RF-4C
and after 6 months of training, I went to Vietnam. I flew over 400 hours of combat time and several dozen missions over North Vietnam. I was awarded...Expand for more
the Distinguished Flying Cross and 12 Air Medals. After several more assignments I applied for a master degree program in area studies. I got my degree in Middle Eastern Studies and went on to serve as assistant air attache in Islamabad Pakistan. Later I was promoted to Colonel and went back to Pakistan as the Defense and Air Attache. Sharon and I have two children and have been married for 53 years. We now live in Vermont where our daughter and grandkids live and where my fathers family originated.
