Donald's Story
Living in South Euclid. Divorced since March 2014, been seeing Kate since October of 2014, and retired since Halloween of 2018. (Yeah, wonderful: Half of my retirement has been under the pandemic cloud.)
Two grown and married sons live about 10 minutes from me. The boys and I went hiking in Glacier N.P. in summer of 2015. The younger son and I hiked across England on the Hadrian's Wall Path and toured Scotch distilleries in the Scottish Highlands in the summer of 2014 (he was 23 at the time).
Kate and I went to Iceland in March 2023. In 2022, we went to the harp festival in Edinburgh, took a Mississippi riverboat cruise from St. Louis to Minneapolis, and went hiking in Cinque Terre (the most delicious vacation ever). In 2021, we stayed within about a five-hour drive of Cleveland, visiting Yellow Springs, Greenville, Hocking Hills, Marietta, Berkeley Springs, Wilkes-Barre, and Warren Dunes. naged to catch COVID, at my older son's wedding, I think. Kate and I took 5-day canoe trips in Maine and the Adirondacks pre-pandemic.
For 12+ years I was very active in Cleveland-area Boy Scouts, but now trying to play music outside of my living room (man, I am AWESOME when no-one else is around!) Kate and I go to folk music workshops and open mics. (Kate mostly plays fiddle with me, but plays cello with a community orchestra. She also plays hammer dulcimer, flute, and piano. I play guitar; that's it, just guitar.) I serve on boards and advisory panels for a couple of folk music organizations, and, before the pandemic, I was a volunteer instructor for Guitars 4 Vets.
Proud abuelo of a granddaughter born in 2020. In Ashland once a week to visit my mom, who just turned 94. Dad died in 2017. Can't believe they tore down my elementary and junior high schools!
