Donald Gene's Story
School
I attended Orchards Elementary School in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. I believe the years would be 1960 thru 1962.
After grade school I attended Sacagawea Junior High in the 7th and 8th grades. I remember the day John F. Kennedy was shot in Dallas. I was in school when I was told of the news.
Later I moved to Spokane, WA for the 9th grades on and was drafted in 1968. When I was drafted I was in the Haight Asbury area of San Francisco. I served in A btry, 2/35th Arty, II Field Forces, Vietnam in 1969 and 1970.
After I was released from the Army I met my future wife at Spokane Community College. I married Donna Peterson from Ephrata, WA in 1974 and we are still married.
I am now living in Wood...Expand for more
inville, WA (near Seattle) with my wife Donna. I retired in 2003 with cancer from exposure to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam. Before that I worked as a Contract Administrator at an engineering company. We built water treatment plants around the world.
After retiring I drove long haul for about a year. I wouldn't like to do it for a living but as a hobby it was great. I was able to see Disneyland, KnottÂs Berry Farm, Magic Mountain, and several NASCAR races for just the price of the ticket as I would live in the truck and made sure I was in the right town/city at the right time.
I now spend my days collecting WWI and WWII military items.
I would like to hear from anyone that knew me in Lewiston.
