Donald's Story
After graduation, I entered the work force as a Mechanical Design Draftsman at Mueller Climatrol, located on 20th street and W. Oklahoma Ave. After five years and a desire to seek additional experience elsewhere, I moved on. Drafting positions at A.C. Spark Plug, Oak Creek, Ladish Company, Cudahy, and Perfex Corp., Milwaukee, made for some interesting and enlightening work experience. In 1964 I returned to Mueller Climatrol until their closing in 1971. After being unemployed for several months, I accepted a Sr. Designer position at Young Radiator Company in Racine, Wisconsin. It was a decision I considered temporary until I could find employment back in Milwaukee. Well, my temporary job lasted over 30 years until retirement in 2002.
In fall of 1956 I met fellow classmate, Karen Wilkening. We didn't know each other at Pulaski, but had many of the same friends and acquaintances. We married in August of 1959 and have been blessed with one daughter.. Nancy is married to Brent Mason, and they have three married daughters. The eldest, Sara, has been blessed with two boy's, (our Great-Grandsons), Connor and Nolan.

irement has been enjoyable but with several health issues. Heart by-pass surgery in 2005, and a hip replacement in 2017. I have been overweight for years and walk with a cane to get along. A trip south and a stay in Florida to visit friends and see the sights was especially enjoyable in 2009. Many memorable times at Alma Lake near St. Germain in Vilas county bring many good memories to mind. Vacations each summer for over 30 years has been memorable.
In recent years, I have volunteered to be active on our PHS reunion planning committee. My efforts and those of others have made our annual reunion gatherings possible. I am encouraged that over the years, many PHS 56 graduates have offered their great support by attending these events with great interest and enthusiasm. My hope is that we are able to continue these day time celebrations in the years to come. I take great joy in helping to plan these annual gatherings.
Serving our Lord and my church congregation in leadership as an Elder has been truly a joy. I thank God for His gifts of love to me, my family, and all Christians who believe His holy word.
