Jack's Story
I really did about a little of everything in my life and I have no regrets except that my young mind is stuck in this old body. I lived on Washington Avenue and went to PS 58 in the Bronx. I had Mrs Weis for 5th grade and Mr. Solomon for 6th. My most memorable places were Crotona Park, Bronx Zoo, Orchard Beach, riding the 3rd Avenue L, shopping on 3rd Avenue, Bathgate, Belmont Avenue My parents then moved to Brooklyn, catch me on my space dot com/fatkato which is mostly about my days in dee jaying. . I lived on Belmont across the street from 64, then moved to Pitkin and(Essex), loved the Kinema, Moe's knishes, George's deli (Beitzinger), Paladino's Ices and jelly apples. How about the almond candy factory on Liberty Ave across the street from ole Liberty Park, White Castle on Atlantic. shhh Carvels, A & P on Pitkin Ave and Atkins, Bennetts Drug store on Shepherd, The shoemaker...Expand for more
on Linwood & Pitkin, drug store on Linwood and Pitkin which later became Camacho.s Grocery Store. Mostoff hardware, Kaye's Discount, which then became Mercado Supermercado. I remember going shopping on Blake Avenue, Belmont Avenue, taking the train to the Rockaways and fishing in the Cross Bay Bridge. I rejoiced with my family when the Metropolitans began to play in Shea Stadium. A sad day when after lunch break on November 22, 1963 I finished my Crystal Radio in my shop class, I heard John F. Kennedy was shot. I still feel those sad memories. I am so proud to have experienced and enjoyed going to the 64-65 World's Fair. There so much memories that come to mind, I love to share pictures of the "good olde" times....
