Doneine's Story

Life After High School, I attended colleges for 5 years before working for CIGNA Insurance company as a Claims Adjuster for almost 10 years. IN 1989 I met my husband, Larry, at Grace Community Church in the S.F. Valley and married him a year later. We have been married since 1990. We moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1991 with our son, Nathan. I home-schooled him since the 1st grade. I also raised my husband's daughter, Laurel, who now lives with her husband in Houston, TX. School I lived in the same house from birth until I moved out when I was 19. I only went to 3 schools. My elementary and middle schools were within walking distance. In high school I took a bus. The last year I was in high school, they opened up the new high school in our town and I had the option to go to the new school, or attend the one I'd been going to. There was no question... all of my siblings went to Wm. S. Hart High... I'd stick to my old school. College I made a big mistake in college. I kept changing my major. It started out as a music major, then I switched to an art major and finally to a business major. I majored in majoring!!! I earned a lot of credits (enough for 2 majors) but, unfortunately, not in the right subjects. After 5+ years of college I quit and started working. Workplace I had some interesting jobs along the way. My first job was working at Magic Mountain (now a Six Flags Park). That was a lot of fun. I also worked as a receptionist for a carpet cleaning company called Magic Maintenance. I guess there was something about the name "Magic" that called me. I worked at a bank as a teller and also for a lady who had me call people for who knows what (I think I was a telemarketer). I hated that job. I also worked at Bob's...Expand for more
Big Boy as a waitress. After that I worked for INA (Ins. Co. of No. America) which merged with CG (Conneticut General) and became CIGNA. How's that for a bit of history? I worked at CIGNA for almost 10 years before getting married. After moving to Georgia, I worked part time as a cook at a Day Care Center and as an Administrative Assistant to the manager of a major retail sales company. I worked as a teacher's aid and sub teacher at a Christian school. Then I stopped working so I could teach my son at home and it was the best job I've ever had. After Nathan was in 10th grade, we decided to put him back in school and I went back to work as a receptionist and quickly got promoted to Office Manager. I did that for four years, but decided to change careers. I went to work in the Medical field working for a credentialing company that made sure Medical reps going into hospitals had all the proper shots, forms, etc. per the hospital's requirements. That was a very unique and fun job. I love helping people and found that I was pretty good in the customer service field. Currently I am the IT Administrator for our church responsible for maintaining the church's database, communicating to the church, creating announcement and poster graphics and helping all the different ministries of the church in whatever way I can. Second best job ever!!! Extra Curricular Activities I love to do crafts, and especially love photography and scrapbooking. I recently started doing applique quilting. I LOVE to read, especially biographies, and I lead a monthly book club called Mambo's Book Club. I love to watch movies (new and old). I'm an organizing fool. That would be my dream job -- to organize people's kitchens, office space, craft rooms.
