Donna's Story
I moved to Oklahoma in 1980 and have been here ever since. The loves of my life are my 4 children (ages 31 to 14) and 2 grandkids. (All pictured here with me in our 2010 Mother's Day photo shoot) My eldest daughter, April, attended the University of Notre Dame on a full ride scholarship. My two oldest girls live in Plano, Texas, and my two youngest kiddos live here in Oklahoma. My youngest, a 14 year old son, just moved back in with his Dad, and even though we have shared custody, I am now an empty nester. It feels really wierd. Never been by myself before. Always had parents, kids or a significant other around all the time.
Anyway, as for what I do and how I got here: I started attending undergrad school/college at 33 years of age in 1993 (after two divorces and three kids LOL). I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah in 1997; then went straight to lawschool - the same year my eldest daughter April started at Notre Dame. It was definitely a "Family Affiair" . (Sly & the Family Stone tune - Memba that? ) Graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 2000, when I was Freaking 40! and after seven long ass years of school! (Another child and another marriage/divorce thrown in the mix.) My son Elijah was 1 yr old when I started law school at age 37.
I missed our 20 year reunion because I had just started my second year of law school I have lived in Tulsa since 2003, and have my own law practice, Dukes Law Office, P.C. My main areas of practice are personal injury, family law (GO FIGURE - I am an expert in the subject) and employment law, but I w...Expand for more
ill delve into just about anything interesting and challenging.
I lived in Norman, Oklahoma from 1997 to 2003, and am an avid University of Oklahoma football fan. I attended the 2000 Orange Bowl in Florida when OU won the National Championship with three girlfriends. Talk about a blast -- too much fun!!! I also attended the Holiday Bowl in San Diego when OU played the Oregon Ducks - Phil Mickelson sat right in front of us. I try to attend the Texas-OU Red River Shootouts whenever my schedule allows. WHAT A PARTY! Now that SAM (Bradford) the man is a RAM, I will be traveling to Missouri more than usual to see some Rams games. Anyone have good seats!! I'll pay premium.
My family, including my three sisters, still live in the St. Louis area. My sister Susan is neighbors with John Hofman and Joe Valenti. As always, I still keep in touch with Vicki Allison, my best friend for all these years.
I still love going to concerts, all genres - some of the most recent concerts: Billy Idol, Metallica, Motley Crue, Saliva, Ian Moore, Johnny Lang, to name a few. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, entertaining/hosting and gourmet cooking, trying to learn how to play golf, spending time chilling at the river, lake or ocean, collegiate and NFL football, and travel. I am also a news junkie.
I sincerely enjoyed our 30 year reunion and visiting with all of those who attended, and look forward to our next gathering, which I hope is sooner and later. We aren't spring chickens anymore. I try to get back to St. Louis during the summer and holidays. Mom is trying to get me to move back some day; we'll see. But in the interim, I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
