Donna's Story
Welcome to my profile! I am currently living in Chicago, Illinois (also referred to as the "City") and work for the Illinois Education Associaiton(IEA) as a UniServ Director. I have close to 3,000 IEA members in my region which is made up of teachers and support staff. I am responsible for professional staff development training, association trainings, facilitation of various kinds of meetings, negotiating teacher and support staff contracts (17 to be exact), and assisting Associaitons if and when they prepare and go on strike. To prepare me for my position with IEA, I secured a Washington State internship and a National Education Association internship. I didi my national internship in Arizona. I was recruited to Illinois in 2000.

state and lived there for 20+ years.
i taught elementary school at the primary level and was also the special reading teacher. In addition, I was the Association President for several years before taking a leave of absence to do school communiity organizing for the Washington Education Association.
I am fortunate to have had many varied experiences throughout the years and have made lifelong friendships. Recently I have become reconnected with high school classmates which has added joy and appreciation to my life.
I currently share my home with a greyhound and two cats. Since adopting my greyhound, I have become an advocate of finding homes for rescued (retired) racing greyhounds and am involved in volunteering at greyhound events. I also take pleasure in running, cycling, snow skiing, and sailing on Lake Michigan.
