Donna's Story
Does anybody care? My biography can be summed up in a few words -- lived, laughed, and loved!
Married Wes when we were both 55 and neither of us had been married. No kids either! Probably the best thing I ever did.
Before graduating high school, I was a foreign exchange student (AFS) to Bolivia, and Secretary of the Year for 2 years in a row for Junior Achievement (Greater Tulsa Area). I was also Valedictorian (1 of 4) from CPHS in 1971, and Miss FBLA. Also, I was active in several other organizations, and was the first secretary to the first Juvenile Officer, Joe Ganem, in the Sand Springs Police Department.
After graduating high school, I attended OU, was a University Scholar, pledged AXO social sorority, was active in numerous collegiate events, and graduated with a BBA in Accounting. I moved back to OKC, worked for a big CPA firm, then a regional firm, then I went to law school at OU. After that, I worked at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission for nearly eight years, before moving back to Sand Springs and starting my own law and CPA practice in 1997.
I've been active in my church (SSUMC) and was on the SS Planning Commission for several years. I have been President of the SS Rotary Club, and intend to start back being active with the Sand Springs Community Chorus. I've also been co-chair of the Annual SS Community Thanksgiving Dinner for many years -- we cook and deliver meals to over 800 people in our community on Thanksgiving.
And, once again, does anybody care?
What is most important is not what we have done, but what we can do.
And, I anticipate having the energy to do much more in the future!
