"Who am I really?" Well, I am a mother of 1 son, and 2 daughters. I have been blessed with 5 Grandsons,and 1 Granddaughter. Throughout the years I have been given the name of "Maw" by the friends of my children and the name of "Mimi" by my Grandchildren and thier friends. I am also a Mom to a Marine, my son Geoff had joined the Marines and his active duty was up in Oct.2001. He was called back to active duty the following March and was sent to South Carolina for 6 months. He had a friend,Andy, whose younger brother, Roy, had just gotten orders to go to Iraq. Geoff and Andy decided to "volunteer" to go to Iraq with little brother,Roy. The 3 of them came home safely. And my youngest daughter Cassandra met Roy and they got married Oct.2003. Roy was still in the Marines and was sent to Iraq for his 2nd tour and in June 2004 I recieved a call from Cassandra telling me Roy had been injured. So I met Cassandra in San Antonio at the Brookes Burn Center. You see, Roy was in a convoy and the humvee he was in was hit. Roy was thrown out of the humvee and he was on fire. Other Marines in the convoy behind Roy ran to his rescue and put the fire out that was on his body. One of his fellow Marines ran back to the humvee to try and save his little brother. He found his little brother who died in his arms. You see the other 3 young men that was with my son-in-law died. 75% of Roys body was burnt. The only part of his body that was not burnt was where he wore his helmet, his boots, part of his back and his privates. You might have seen his story on Katy Couric, it is titled Roy and Cassi's story. Roy has gone through many surgeries.
