Donna's Story

Life After a short and unillustrious college career, I married, went to work for the phone company and proceeded to build a life!! Two lovely daughters, a retirement, a new grandson, and a new career later, life goes on. I am currently retired after a second career as the Director of Technology for state government. Both girls are happy and healthy and my grandson (now 18) was followed by two more grandsons ages 5 and 8 and the family’s Princess Perfect age 11 - relocating soon to SC to escape snowy winters and be closer to watch the younger 3 grow up. School K-3 at Ticonderoga Central School, 3-8 at St. Mary's (Srs. Leonard and Peracles's were my favs), Freshman year at Ticonderoga H.S. (could I stand one more day of Latin?), Sophmore year at North Shore H.S. (just when I get to know 2 people, we up and move - AGAIN), Junior and Senior year at Richmond Hill (made the Dolphins and some friends - Carla, where are you?). Ticonderoga will always be my home town, but I am not a graduate of Ti Hi. Moving around in high school as much as I did made it difficult to form any lasting relationships, but the variety of schools (from a graduating class of 60 to one of about 800 and from the small town to the big city with a stop in the burbs!) did give me a lot of teriffic experiences (like going to school my first day in New York in the middle of the teacher strike - in a basement of a church!). In terms of school involvment I participated in some intramural sports at Ti Hi and North Shore and at R...Expand for more
ichmond Hill, I was lucky to belong to the Dolphins the girls swim and performance team. I most miss loosing touch with 2 good friends at Richmond Hill, Carla Giordano and Denise Deamantis (spelling was never a strength). So if anyone runs into either of those ladies - give me a shout!!! Workplace I began my career with New York Telepone in the E53rd Street Business Office/ Commercial customers. From there, I then went to work in the Residence Office in Elmhurst. After a brief stint, I moved to Schenectady, NY and went to work in the Residence Business Office there. I was promoted to Special Rep. I worked in the Albany sales office before, during and after divestature. Had to love those parties!! Went through all of the generations with ABI, AT&T, Lucent, Avaya, (with an additional stop or two with AT&T in there somewhere) Loved my time working on Capnet. I was offered the chance to move to Boston to start up the new Implementation Crew - took it. Worked with the best crew of Implementors and Technicians, and we did some great work! Unit morphed and I ended up as a project manager - more great folks and lots of hard work. Moved over to service as a NASM (those who need to know what that is) and ended my career there when they made me an offer I could'nt refuse. Since the "bell days", I switched sides and now I work for state governement as a Director in the IT department of the legislature. I learned my lessons well in the business office, and they have served me well ever since.
