Donna's Story
A couple of years after high school I joined the Army serving in the areas of personnel, admin, and finance throughout my career. I retired in November, 2005 with 24 years of service; 7 on Active Duty and 17 in the Reserves. I retired for the second time from the federal government after working at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, NC for the Department of the Navy, Fleet Readiness Center East in Human Resources as a Program Manager for several programs: Drug-Free Workplace Program, Awards Incentive Program, Transportation Incentive Program, and Beneficial Suggestions Program. Luckily, I was able to combine all my active duty military time with my federal government time so I had 33 years when I retired in January 2019.
I am married to Jim McDougal (originally from Columbus, OH) and we have 3 kids; Travis...Expand for more
, Gina, and Joe. Travis is a deputy on the Sheriff's Department in Rowan County, NC; Gina graduated from Barton College, Wilson, NC in May, 2009 and joined the Marine Corps in September 2010 as an Avionic Electronics Technician on the F18 & F35 aircraft and is currently stationed at Yuma, AZ; Joe joined the Marine Corps in September 2009 as a Heavy Equipment Operator and is now stationed at Cherry Point, NC. We have 6 grandchildren - Cavin, Lotus, Maverick, Adaline, Marley, and Ezrah.
In my spare time I enjoy scrapbooking, shopping, cooking, playing with my grandchildren whenever I get the chance, and trying to keep up with my flower beds. If that just doesn't get it and I need some more excitement - I twist my husband's arm (it doesn't take much) to take me for a ride on the back of his motorcycle. .
