Donna's Story

Married 30 years to my high school beau. Mom to one son, grandmother to 2 grand-daughters. I have 2 very spoiled dogs, even more spoiled than a child if you can believe that. Love to travel, enjoy the outdoors in the spring and summer months, don't like the cold weather. We travel to Florida almost every year for vacation, just for a week, not the whole summer. We all like Mickey Mouse and Universal Studios too. There is so much to do in Florida that we haven't done it all even after all these years. There are things we have yet to see. Back in high school and even to this day, I spoke up for what I believed, stood up for the underdog. Didn't have many enemies, but have since found out that I was considered a snob or so I have been told, which I find hard to understand. I got along with everyone and still do to this day. Even if I don't like you I can tolerate you. The wildest thing I did in school was in the 8th grade my best friend Earleen and I changed into short shirts and half tops and knee high leather boots on the last day of school that we had borrowed from other friends. Of course we changed back into our regular clothes before time to go home. And then in ninth grade we skipped out on the last day with Debbie and Cecil, going to the beach and swimming in long pants, bell bottoms of course. That was rough on the walk back to school to catch the bus. ...Expand for more
Debbie and I lived about a mile away from each other. I would go over in the mornings and sepnd the day and then she moved alway., losing track after that. Most of my friends from school dropped out of sight after graduation. I did see Keith Bruce in Moncks Corner years ago at a local music store which has since closed. Karen Brown I see her every once in a blue moon, other than that I haven't seen anyone from school. My best friend Earleen Hoskins and I kept in touch until about '83 or '84 and then we lost touch. UPDATE: Earleen and I have have renewed our friendship via classmates.com in April of 2008. After beng missing in the real world for many years, we both signed up on classmates. Who said good things don't happen. She came down from the mountains in May 2008, we gossiped, caught each up other with the tales of married life, kids, critters and long lost friends. Talking it seemed as though not a day had passed, yet a decade had. She still is as bubbly and outgoing as she was in high school. The grand girls and I went to Tennessee to visit with Earleen in June, going to the Knoxville Zoo and Gatlingburg. Both places being a first for the grand girls and I. We all had a blast, swimming and the girls went crazy playing with the puppy. I don't think people will remember me from high school as I didn't really stand out for any reason other than being a snob.
