Donna's Story

Life Wow! That is what I have to say when I look back! After high school, off to college. Never made it to the bitter (successful) end. Loved it, worked to go back, but did the next best thing at the time instead of becoming a lawyer, became a paralegal. That lasted about two seconds when my first daughter was born. Those blue eyes, porcelain skin and rose bud lips took all my career ambitions away. So, stayed home and worked from home to be with her instead. After my son was born 2 1/2 years later, at home-intentionally, I just seemed to stay at home. Home schooled them both when they were young, up to 6 years old. Baked bread, breastfeed, the whole domestic nine-yards. Bad marriage, but definitely the white house and picket fence scene. Divorced wisely in 1995, remarried in 1996....in a back wards metaphorical sense of Robert Frost's poem "The Traveller", I never looked for that dang other path...but when I opened my eyes to see that I could go down another path and followed my heart and not the twisted vision of what I "thought" marriage looked like. Deep, heartfelt love was the only way to go...screw the picture, it is never perfect. So, I married Jeff. We have one daughter together, born in 2001. Yes, at home as well. Somethings never change. I did stop baking bread though, and the kids go to public school now! So, here I am, blissfully in love, great kids (normal! Roller coaster ride in the teens), daughter 17 (born 1989)-stubborn as her father + mom's strong will as well. I have my work cut out for me. A little duct tape across the mouth might do the trick! LOL. Son is 14 (born 1992). Great guy! Absolutely great! Gave me a little trouble through JR high, bored and not wanting to do any work in school, but he tests so high the schools would just let him get by to have higher state ranking, by averaging in his score. He is now doing very well, still gets a bit rebellious, quietly, about homework, but he loves school and not be...Expand for more
ing labeled this time as gifted and talented or college level. He was getting tease for being smart, go figure...I can truly say I never criticized anyone in school for being smart... Now, I have gone through some business changes, taken great risk, failed/won/failed/won. All in all a great experience. I still have a holiday decor business and an event production company, but due to a large, potentially national event in my grasp, I put the holiday's on hold and am plunging forward. I only maintain the clients I have in decor, it is the exciting world of events that I am drawn to right now. Heck anyone who "really" knew me in high school would know how dualistic I am, I was born a Gemini. Have to stay busy, whether is makes money or it is a great losing money lesson. As a family we have: taken 2 1/2 week long driving trip across the western united states. Took the whole family and the grandmothers to Puerto Rico. Go to Vegas at least every two years. Chicago, San Francisco, The Red Wood Forest in Petaluma, CA. Oregon, Vancouver, Cancun, Florida, Disney World & Land. Key West, River Rafting down Snake River at the base of the Grand Tetons. Camped at the base of Jenny Lake in to dang cold weather in June-32 degrees and 6 ft of snow. Drove to Denver, twice, Arkansas, South Padre....Blaah, Blaah, Blaah. OUR HOBBY IS TRAVELING! Could you tell. I have lived in Houston, Texas for 12 years now, so elated to say that good ole' texas mustang spirit runs through my veins now. I would not move back to Louisiana for anything. (Ok, I will take the Million, invest it and move again, back to Texas). I am proud of Texas, can you tell? So, welcome to all who read this. Our last reunion was inspiring, moving and life changing....Oh, did I mention...AN ABSOLUTE BLAST! FUN FOR THREE DAYS! I am suppling my email address in an odd fashion so that it does not get edited by classmates. It is "soul"+"set"+"22"+sbcglobal+com. Drop me a line anytime.
