Donna's Story
How do you put 45 years of info in a small space? How do you describe your life in a few words? Wow. Its been a very long time since high school, as we all know. I'll just sum it up by saying I've lived a lot of different places and have been very happy with my life.
I married one year after we graduated (to the day!) I married Randy Williams a 1969 Po-Hi grad. We lived in Stillwater for awhile until he finished his engineering degree then his job took us to Detroit, Michigan then to San Antonio, Texas. We lived in Texas for 16 years, where we had one son, Arrin, then we were off to New York state (upstate) where we lived for 5 years. Did not like living in NY but loved being able to travel the East Coast, exploring places described in history books, seeing Fall colors and NYC. But job changes took us to the Detroit Michigan area, again, for a few years. Our son became a Univ of Michigan grad and then we moved to Indiana. I became a widow here after 33 ...Expand for more
years of marriage. Randy died of early-onset alzheimers disease at the age of 54. I have since moved to Louisville Kentucky (just across the Ohio River from where we lived in Indiana).
Through most of the years, I was a stay-at-home mom and wife. Then I became a travel agent. That was a fun job and the perks were great too. I am now retired but still arrange travel for a senior group at my church. We have an Alaskan cruise and land tour scheduled for August. Last summer, we visited Mackinac Island. I also plan informative programs for a once-a-month meeting for the same group. I serve as a deacon at my church, which keeps me busy too.
My son lives in Chicago, just a few hours away. No grandchildren at this point.
Life has been good, full of events both good and bad, happy and sad, but I've come through them all with a determination to enjoy my life with peace and contentment. I think I've accomplished that, or I'm working really hard at it, anyway!
