Doreen's Story
Hi, my name is Doreen Aust (nee Burgoyne). I was in the secretarial program at Dartmouth High in 1972 after transferring there from Queen Elizabeth High in Halifax. After high school I worked for a short while in Halifax/Dartmouth. Then in 1973 I moved to London, Ontario. I lived there for about 2 years, then returned to Dartmouth for another short while. In 1976 I made the BIG move to Calgary and stayed there for 27 years. I married in 1977 and adopted a beautiful son in 1981. The marriage ended in 1997. I remarried in 2001 and in 2002 I moved to Texas where I still reside. While I was in Calgary I decided to return to school at age 30. I took all of the high school sciences and math that were not offered in the "secretarial program" at Dartmouth High and then went to Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and graduated in 1989 as a registered Medical Laboratory ...Expand for more
Technologist. In the work field I worked the first six years in a hospital chemistry lab, then moved on to blood banking. When I moved to Texas I spent another six years working in blood banking. I am retired now. I return to Nova Scotia every July to visit my family. July is my mother's birthday. This year I will actually be going there for Christmas! That will be the first time since 1978!
In 1988 I was a performer in the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies. That was very exciting.
I see a lot of names on Classmates, but alas, I can't seem to remember them. The two people I'm looking for I only know by their first names. I hope that each and every one of you have had a great life since Dartmouth High!
P.S. I would like to add that the two people I'm looking for are Rosemarie (nickname "chicken"), and Dana. I've forgotten their last names.
