Doreen's Story
I still live in Lakewood, CA. I have been married for over 30 years to my wonderful husband, Stan. We have a son named Frank, who also graduated from Lakewood High in 1992. We have 3 wonderful grandchildren, Blake, Kyle and Alexis (Lexie) who are the joy of our lives. I recently retired from Boeing (formerly was with Rockwell in Downey) in Huntington Beach after 34 years as a Staff Analyst. Had a great career. Got to work for a company that built the Space Shuttle. In 1995 I was lucky enough to go to Florida to watch the Space Shuttle Atlantis launch as part of an honoree program. I also got to meet and tour Astronauts around the Downey facility to meet and greet employees. Those times were the highlight of my career. Got my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Phoenix in 2002 (at the age of 50). That was an accomplishment...most importantly because I attended and graduated with my son! ounty of Los Angeles at the Welfare Department where I worked for the Head of Welfare Fraud Investigations...very interesting job. Got married and lived in Yuma AZ because my husband was in the Marines Corps. While there I worked at Yuma Proving Ground an Army base. Moved back to California and went back to work for County. Also worked for Registrar Recorder office where I got to work an election. That was fun! Moved to San Jose for a while and then got divorced and moved back to the Lakewood area. Since then I have stayed in this area. Married Stan in 1980 and we have been happily married ever since. My life has been great! I have a wonderful family and lots of friends - but my BEST friends are my 3 sisters, Holly, Donna & Betsy. I am very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Life is good! Especially now that I am retired. We have some plans to travel...but mostly to spend time with our son, and our 3 grandchildren.
