Dorian's Story
Life
I'm married, living in Palm Coast, Florida. Between my husband and I, we have four children, with nine grandchildren and one more on the way. It's scary that my oldest son will turn 40 at the end of this year (2007). Yikes, I can't really be that old, can I? Just thought I'd join Classmates to see who else is out there. Hadn't been able to find any info on whether the class of '67 was going to have a 40-year reunion or not. I haven't attended in the past, but after going to my husband's 40th reunion in 2005, I saw how much fun he had re-connecting with his "old" classmates.
School
I really don't remember most of my teachers. I do remember Mr. Ateek as seeming very intense and somewhat intimidating to me for some reason.
College
Never went to college. Got married and had kids instead. I had dreamed of going to court reporting school, but never did. In an odd twist of fate, I ended up in 1996 getting into the court reporting field anyway.
Workplace

overnment, with the exception of a five-year stint as an executive assistant at a resort hotel near Disney World. I took an $8,000 pay cut for an opportunity to go back to work for the state in the 9th Judicial Circuit in Orlando as an electronic court reporter. After seven years there, my husband found a new job in Palm Coast and we moved there. As luck would have it, in late 2003, the 7th Judicial Circuit in Daytona Beach was starting a pilot program to implement the digital court reporting technology there, so I got in on the ground floor. I manage the Digital Court Reporting Department, with ten digital court reporters over the four-county circuit which covers Volusia, Flagler, St. Johns and Putnam counties. Even with the technical issues associated with computers and audio/video equipment, it's really my dream job. That said, however, if I was to win $100 million, I would immediately retire, give money to our kids and grandkids, and then spend the rest traveling around the country with my husband while we were still young enough to be able to enjoy it!
