Dorothy "Dottie"'s Story
Life
My Spouse
I met my husband(Rich Trimer) years before graduation at one of the local fairs, but we did not date until after we had graduated from high school. In fact, my best guy friend was a good friend of his. When my friend moved and went to Center High School, he began hanging around with my husband and he introduced us. The rest is history. We have now been married for thirty-nine years and he is truly my best friend as well as the love of my life.
My Pets
My dog's name is Jake and he is the best dog in the world. He is a mutt, a shepherd mix, blonde/tan dog of medium size, but he thinks he is human. And funny thing, we treat him like he is!!
He does his tricks and smiles for a cookie or treat. He loves to go for walks and loves to go in the car even more. He is truly a great companion. An update, Jake passed away one year ago and I still miss him everyday.
My Kids
I have 2 daughters
Kelly Lynne Trimer Dobbins married to Dean Dobbins, lives in Raccoon Twp. with her 3 children, Little Dean(8yrs), Abbey Lynne (6yrs)and Tanner(4yrs).She gave up her career to be a stay at home mom.
Heather Elleen Trimer Hennessy married to John Hennessy and daughter Lacey Elleen(2yrs), live in Suffolk, Virginia where he is stationed in the US Coast Guard. She is a certified Teacher*Special ED)and teaches in the Norfolk Public School system.
My Job
I am a Supervisor for Raccoon Township(15 yrs) as well as the secretary/treasurer for my husband's business. I love my government position and enjoy making our community a most livable place. I love to learn more about the workings of government and attend lots of classes on that subject. I don't like the politics in...Expand for more
government, I believe in fairness for all. I have one more year left to my current term and have decided not to run for re-election. I want to have the freedom to travel and not have to work around meetings and township business. I feel guilty if I miss a meeting and so we plan all of our trips around meeting nights. I will miss most of the people, but the troublemakers will not be missed.
My husband and I love to travel so we bought a 34 ft Allegro Bus RV and spend a lot of time on the road. We spent 3 months touring Alaska in 2005 . We have been out west several times and love the Smokey Mountains and Tennessee, too. This year we plan to visit the New England states as well as Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Rich would love to stay in the south in the winter, but I just cannot give up the holidays with the children and grandchildren.
My pasttimes, aside from travelling, include reading, and watching sporting events. I love to watch my grandchildren play organized sports(soccer, baseball, softball and basketball). I enjoy most sporting venues....football, baseball, but my favorite is college hoops and Pitt is my favorite team. I rarely miss a game if it is televised. Don't call me during March Madness, I won't answer the phone. I also enjoy going to the Hopewell girls basketball games.....they are very good and were state champs last year.
TV Programs
I don't watch a lot of tv programs(sports mostly), but I do have a few favorites. They are: NCIS, The UNIT, Close to Home, and Criminal Minds. And I am stuck on reality TV- Survivor and Amazing Race. I don't watch soap operas but listen to XM Satellite radio...channel 16.....Nashville country called Highway 16.
