Dorothy's Story

Hi, This is what I have done since graduating from Paul D Schreiber... I worked for the Dept of Motor Vehicles and attended the Adelphi Business school. I met my Husband in 1965, six months later we were engaged and married in 1966. We moved to Brentwood NY where we purchased a brand new house. I left the Dept of Motor Vehicles to start a Family. I have three Wonderful Children, two boys and a Girl..My oldest is 40 and, my youngest will be 35 and my middle son is 38. I have 9 Beautiful Grandchildren of which there is a set of triplets in that group. I am truly blessed.. When my children were young, we traveled by car cross country to Calif. Got to see a lot of States, which was very exciting and Interesting.. After my youngest started first grade, I was asked to return to Dept of Motor Vehicles on a part time basic as an experiment. They never hired part timers before so, they didn't know how long this position would last as it was an experiment. I believe they hired about 10 part timers to fill different positions. This job lasted 3 1/2 years. Longer then we expected. I then stayed home for a short period of time and, then I became a Bus Drivers Assistant for the Brentwood School District which a dear friend of mine talked me into. . It certainly was a rewarding and interesting job. . I ...Expand for more
worked for the District for 14 years when, I retired to care for my Mom as my Dad had suddenly passed away. Mom came to live with my Husband and I in Brentwood. My Mom lived with us for 3 1/2 years when she passed in March 06. Six weeks later, my Husband passed in May 06. It was tough as my Dad, My Brother, My Mom and My Husband all passed within a 4 year period. . With the support of Family and Good friends, I was able to get through such a heart breaking time. After my Husband passed, my children did not want me living alone in Brentwood. I did not want to move in with any of my children because, I felt they needed their privacy as well as I did. Soooooo, my Daughter and I bought a nice size piece of Property in Farmingville and, had a 4400 sq ft house built. We each have our own living quarters right down to the separate entrances. It's actually one house as two separate houses joined, if you get the picture. Two of my Grandchildren live right next door which is fun. I always have company. Ha Ha I am currently selling my house in Brentwood and, I just love Farmingville. I am an animal lover, I have 4 dogs, 6 Parrots and three tortoises. I am currently retired and Life has been pretty good to me since leaving Paul D Schreiber. This is my Story, Feel free to write. Regards, Dottie
