Dorothy's Story
Workplace
I have worked since the age of 6. Beginning on my grandparent's farm in Brazoria,Tx.,and after moving to Galveston at the age of 14. During the summer months I earned money for school working doing various jobs.
Leaving Galveston, shortly after graduation, I moved to
Washington,D.C. with my east coast family where I was hired by The people's Drugstore Chain as a cashier.After

Restaurant as a cashier in the daytime and attended the
Metropolitan Business School at night taking typing and
shorthand courses. I finally was called by U.T.M.B. to
work typing labels in the pharmacy dept.,but was also
offered an on the job training position in the O.R. as an instrument technician. This was a challenge that I loved and embraced.That challenge turned into a 27yr. career from which I retired in July 2002.
